Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston will host Portland forum on affordable housing

Affordable housing is one of the hottest topics of 2024, and a discussion this Thursday in Portland will gather some leaders in the field to address the issue.

Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston will host a forum, “Leveraging Partnerships and Capital: Unlocking Barriers to Affordable Housing & Economic Development,” to explore the shortage of affordable housing. Topics will include land use reform, housing development best practices and tools for successful affordable housing and economic development.

The session will be Thursday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Portland Harbor Hotel, at 468 Fore St.

The keynote speaker will be Greg Payne, senior advisor of housing policy in the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future.

Panelists will be Cullen Ryan, executive director at Community Housing of Maine; Daniel Brennan, director of MaineHousing; Rebecca Hatfield, president and CEO of Avesta Housing; and Scott Sarapas, vice president, mortgage market leader at Androscoggin Savings Bank.
