Nearly $100 million in economic stimulus money is headed to Maine for construction and renovation of federal facilities. More than half, $54.8 million, is allotted to modernize the Margaret Chase Smith U.S. Post Office Courthouse in Bangor, members of the state’s congressional delegation announced Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. Another $37.7 million is earmarked for the border station and port of entry in Van Buren.
The rest of the money will fund work at the Calais and Madawaska border stations and the Edward T. Gignoux Courthouse in Portland, the AP reported.
