18 Maine nonprofits awarded grants to boost community impact

A total of 18 Maine nonprofits — from libraries to soup kitchens — have been awarded grants from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation to strengthen their impact in local communities.

Recipients include the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, which will receive $5,000, and the Common Good Soup Kitchen in Southwest Harbor, which has been awarded $2,000.

The grants support initiatives that strengthen community well‑being, including access to food and housing, education, youth development and other essential social services.

“These organizations reflect our commitment to supporting a diverse range of causes across the Foundation’s service area, positively impacting the northern New England economy and addressing needs that are important to our communities,” said Wendy Durrah, the foundation’s chief of staff, secretary and clerk.
