A New Brunswick man hopes to open doors at a new Rockland lobster processing facility just weeks after the opening of another plant in nearby St. George.
The Bangor Daily News reports that Frank Benoit, who operates a 240-employee company in New Brunswick, plans to open a lobster processing plant in Rockland’s Industrial Park at the former offices of the Village Soup newspapers. The newspapers were sold for $150,000 in May in a foreclosure auction.
Benoit told the BDN that he hopes to employ 40 people and that his current New Brunswick operation – Les Pecheries de Chez Nous Ltd. – sells 95% of its product, by the name of Capitaine Frank, to customers in the United States.
Last week, after two years of planning, 23-year-old entrepreneur Kyle Murdock opened the doors at Sea Hag Seafood on the nearby Long Cove in St. George, according to the BDN.
