Five candidates have registered to make a run for the Blaine House next year, including Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler, who faced each other in 2010.
The Associated Press reported that others registered include independent Alex Hammer, of Bangor, who was denied a spot on the 2010 ballot in court; Democrat Stephen Woods, CEO of TideSmart Global and 2012 U.S. Senate candidate; and Democrat David Slagger, representative for the Maliseet Indians in the Maine Legislature last term.
Former governor John Baldacci and U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud have said they’re considering runs for the Blaine House but have not yet filed paperwork to run.
If Michaud decides to make a gubernatorial run, a scramble is expected to fill his 2nd District U.S. House seat.
