Seven companies received the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence, a program that has honored 120 businesses since 1991.
This year’s award, which intends to recognize businesses business leaders for their contribution to Maine’s economy and their communities, went to:
- Falcon Performance Footwear, a 55-employee shoe manufacturer based in Auburn.
- FHC Inc., an nearly 100-employee company that manufactures precision instruments for brain surgery in Bowdoin.
- Howie’s Welding & Fabrication Inc., a 10-employee steel fabrication and paint business based in Jay.
- Lapointe Lumber Co., a 30-employee lumber and building material retailer based in Gardiner.
- Lonza Rockland Inc., a 59-employee manufacturer of products used in cellular biology research, drug discovery and forensics, based in Rockland.
- Norway Savings Bank, a 250-employee bank based in South Paris.
- TD Bank, a 3,100-employee bank with 54 retail locations in Maine.
