Located in the former mill building and known for its affordable food and drinks, Mulligan’s has been a popular downtown destination since opening in 1997.
Mulligan's, a longtime downtown Biddeford bar and restaurant, will officially close its doors on Sunday, with the owners citing ongoing financial challenges.
Jake DeLois, son of owner Joe DeLois and part-owner of Mulligan's, told Mainebiz in a phone interview that the business is shutting down because it is "not financially working anymore." He said the restaurant has been losing money since 2021.
"This was a heartbreaking decision," said DeLois. "We love our Biddeford community and the support we have received. We love this place and we are just as sad to see it close."

The DeLois family purchased the business in 2017 from founder George Starkey.
In January, the owners scaled back operations, announcing on social media that the restaurant would close its kitchen while continuing to operate the bar.
In the post, the owners said the rising cost of food and labor made it financially unsustainable. They also cited ongoing challenges facing the restaurant industry in recent years.
At the time, the owners said the decision would allow them to focus on keeping the bar open while evaluating the business's future.
DeLois said the family is seeking a buyer.
