A popular retailer returns to midcoast Maine

Motifs lifestyle and fashion retailer has reemerged in new space at the Lyman Morse Wharf and Marina on Wayfarer Drive in Camden after closing stores in Rockland and Portland during the pandemic.

The store was founded in the 1980s in Portland by Paula Jalbert, who later added a second location in Rockland. After closing the store during the pandemic she decided to team up with old friend and Maine entrepreneur Brenda Garrand.

Garrand told Mainebiz that the two decided to open a coastal concept Motifs on the new Lyman Morse Wharf and Marina in Camden.

“Camden’s year-round demographics provide Motifs with an opportunity to serve the summer, holiday and winter home seasons with distinctive and beautiful items,” said Garrand. “The Lyman Morse Wharf is and will become a regional destination for eating, drinking, shopping and getting out on the water. It’s beautifully located and right in the heart of mid-coast life. Perfect for Motifs.”

“We’re working on collaborative relationships with exciting and desirable brands that our clients have asked for,” said Jalbert. “We’re bringing in unique things that have been unavailable in the mid-coast, including exclusive jewelry from Italy, English outerwear and exquisite furniture and home decor and antiques particularly suited to our mid-coast lifestyle.”
