Customers of three insurers that offer Affordable Care Act individual marketplace plans could see double-digit rate increases as the Maine Bureau of Insurance has given the go-ahead for the rise.
According to the Portland Press Herald, the bureau approved a 25.5% increase for Community Health Options, 21.1% for Harvard Pilgrim and 18% for Anthem.
The Press Herald is reporting, however, that the rate increases won’t affect approximately 90% of Maine residents that have plans through the ACA, as they are eligible for subsidies that offset the double-digit rises.
