Acadia Federal Credit Union recently opened new branch locations in Presque Isle and Brewer in March to expand the credit union's footprint in its home county.
The Presque Isle branch, at 725 Main St., opened on March 30 and beefs up the Fort Kent-based credit union's presence in Aroostook County, where it was founded in 1963. The branch has four employees.
The Brewer branch, at 618 Wilson St., opened on March 9, and replaces a branch that had been on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor. The site has seven employees. (Acadia FCU also has a Bangor branch on Broadway and a location inside Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.)
Both branches feature floor-to-ceiling entrance murals — “This is Brewer” and “This is Presque Isle” — with images of the region. The Presque Isle mural shows potato fields photographed by Paul Cyr, while the Brewer mural, by Thomas Morelli, captures the Penobscot River waterfront at sunset.
'Meaningful impact'
In May, Acadia FCU will host open-house events at each location, inviting community members to tour the new branches and meet the teams.
“The opening of our new branches in Presque Isle and Brewer is about more than growth for Acadia,” said Joey Cannan, president and CEO of Acadia FCU.
“It is about becoming part of these communities, building relationships and creating exceptional experiences that enrich lives," he added. We believe there is something special about Acadia, and wherever we go, our goal is to make a meaningful impact."

Acadia Federal Credit Union ranks No. 12 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, according to the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists. At the time of publication, the credit union had assets of $392.3 million and eight offices. The count is now nine offices and $408 million in assets, the credit union said in Thursday's news release; the credit union now has more than 17,000 members.
Branches are located across Aroostook, Penobscot, Hancock, Washington and Piscataquis counties.
In 2017, the credit union merged with Eastern Maine Medical Center Federal Credit Union, expanding its footprint from Aroostook into the Bangor region.
