Some 2.56 million people visited Acadia National Park last year, spending $221 million in surrounding communities, according to a new federal report.
Those figures were highlighted in the recently published National Park Service’s 2014 report on visitor spending effects. For all national parks, there were 292 million visitors and they spent $15.7 billion in local economies.
For Acadia National Park, the report also said the visitor spending contributed to 3,486 local jobs and $91.2 million in labor income.
