Accounting firm Baker Newman Noyes names new head of tech advisory services

Baker Newman Noyes, a Portland-based accounting and advisory firm, has hired David Lawler as managing director of technology advisory services, a new leadership role within the firm’s business and technology advisory practice.

Lawler will coordinate with the firm’s business advisory specialists and be responsible for managing the technology advisory offerings.

“David’s years of experience working on large-scale strategic technology initiatives and leading technology teams make him a perfect complement to our growing practice serving clients of all sizes in New England and beyond,” said Ilona Davis, principal and practice lead for the firm’s advisory services.

Lawler has two decades of experience supporting technology functions at organizations. Prior to joining Baker Newman, Lawler served as a systems engineer at Fortinet, a global cybersecurity firm. He has also held roles at Avesta Housing, the city of Saco, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and TPx Communications.

The Saco resident received his bachelor’s degree in network engineering from Central Connecticut State University. He serves as an instructor and coach for the Biddeford Youth Hockey Association.

Baker Newman Noyes is ranked No. 2 among Maine’s largest accounting firms in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists. The ranking was based on the firm’s 2023 revenue of $35.3 million.

In addition to its Portland headquarters, the firm has offices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
