AG sues Camden lawyer

After a year-long investigation, Maine Attorney General Steven Rowe recently filed suit against a Camden attorney for allegedly running a nonprofit corporation improperly since 1991 and illegally billing his own firm more than $550,000 in legal fees, according to the VillageSoup.com.

John J. Sanford, a partner in the Camden law firm Harmon, Jones and Sanford, is president of the board of directors of the Seal Cove Automobile Museum on Mount Desert Island, VillageSoup reported.

The lawsuit, filed Nov. 8, includes seven counts against Sanford and seeks to remove him from the museum's board of directors and to order him to repay more than $550,000 in alleged unauthorized legal fees and expenses.
