A small airline company yesterday announced plans to offer air service between Aroostook County and Portland.
New England Air Transport Inc., based in Fort Kent, says the new service from Portland International Jetport to Presque Isle and Frenchville could begin as early as August, according to a press release from the company. The plan is to offer two daily round-trip flights, three days a week.
The company surveyed 120 businesses in northern Maine and was encouraged by the results. It is now surveying businesses in southern Maine to gauge their interest in the service.
