The average gas price in Maine is continuing to fall before the upcoming holiday season, with the statewide average for a gallon of regular gas down 2 cents over the past week to $2.11.
That comes as the national average dropped to $1.99, below $2 for the first time since 2009, according to a Bangor Daily News story quoting GasBuddy and AAA surveys.
The newspaper noted the price in Maine is 44 cents lower than a year ago and 8 cents lower than a month ago.
The price declines have been tied by experts to high production and lower seasonal demand during the winter months.
