The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Thursday that the Anson and Madison Water District will be receiving a Water and Waste Disposal loan of $2.4 million in addition to an $800,000 grant to replace its aging water infrastructure.
The $3.2 million will be used to replace 19,000 feet of a 12-mile transmission main originally installed in 1948 that carries both raw and treated water.
“This vital funding will help improve the essential water infrastructure that serves approximately 1,600 households and 105 businesses and public facilities in the communities of Anson and Madison,” USDA Rural Development State Director Virginia Manuel said in a prepared statement. “This investment will assist both communities to attract businesses and continue to invest in the quality of life of their residents.”
