Biddeford defense contractor VingTech said it will benefit from a $14.8 million Army deal with the Norwegian Kongsberg Protech Systems, for which it is a subcontractor.
The Bangor Daily News reported the majority of the company’s work is on the M153 Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station, or CROWS, for Kongsberg. Torgrim Jorgensen, VingTech’s vice president of programs and sales, told the paper the contract award secures the company’s continued work on those systems.
The 35-employee Biddeford manufacturer is a subsidiary of the Norwegian Simrad Optronics ASA, which is owned by German defense giant Rheinmetall Defence. The company has an agreement with the Army that could be worth a total of $970 million, which is contracted piecemeal as in the latest award.
