Associated General Contractors of Maine kicked off a construction academy immersion program at Kennebec Valley Community College’s Fairfield campus last week.
The program is one of five running this year as part of a recent partnership with the Maine Community College System and the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce.
The four-week, hands-on program is designed to prepare Maine residents, at select community colleges, for careers in the construction trades.
Offering a certified pre-apprenticeship, the program provides hands-on training, industry-recognized credentials and direct connections to employers throughout Maine. Graduates are well-positioned to enter registered apprenticeship programs, pursue post-secondary education and training and advance along career pathways within Maine’s growing construction industry.
“The Maine Construction Academy Immersion Program is an important investment in Maine’s workforce and economic future,” said Kelly Flagg, executive director of AGC Maine.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening Maine’s workforce pipeline and creating career opportunities in the construction trades,” said Elizabeth Fortin. KVCC’s dean of workforce training and professional development.
