A hotel developer in Auburn last week filed a court appeal in an attempt to halt the construction of a rival hotel in Auburn.
RiverWatch LLC, which opened a Hilton Garden Inn in 2003, last week filed an appeal with Androscoggin County Superior Court claiming Auburn’s planning board violated procedures — from not specifically waiving setback requirements for a garage to not requiring a new traffic movement permit — when it approved a new, 110-room Hampton Inn for Great Falls Plaza in early April, according to the Sun Journal in Lewiston.
Mullaney Hospitality Group, based in Sayville, N.Y., and Great Falls Plaza Development Corp., based in Auburn, are developing the $12 million Hampton Inn, the paper said. The city was a co-applicant in the project, the Sun Journal said.
