Avesta Housing adds chief of staff role to management team

Portland-based nonprofit Avesta Housing has promoted long-time employee Kate Cordaro to chief of staff, a newly created position.

In this role, she will support the president and CEO, Jennifer Hawkins, who joined the nonprofit in May. Cordaro will work closely with internal teams and community partners to ensure Avesta Housing’s vision is effectively translated into action.

Cordaro told Mainebiz she sees her job as “providing the strategic support that will help Avesta pursue new, creative solutions to housing challenges across Maine and New Hampshire — while also continuing our strong track record of excellence in serving residents and communities.

“The need for housing has never been more urgent, and it’s energizing to be part of this pivotal moment of attention and momentum toward real change,” she added.

Cordaro joined Avesta Housing in 2016 and previously served in various roles focused on board support, communications and executive administration. Before being promoted to chief of staff, Cordaro served as the executive assistant to the president and CEO.
