The Brunswick Naval Air Station has signed on its first post-closure tenant.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which has offered classes at BNAS since 1994, will expand its campus at the base after it is decommissioned in 2011, Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, told Mainebiz this morning.
Embry-Riddle’s BNAS school trains workers for the aviation industry, but currently only offers classes to people in the military. The expanded campus will open classes to the general public, and attract aviation businesses to the redeveloped site, Levesque said.
