Baldacci delivers State of State tonight

Governor John Baldacci is expected to discuss his restructuring plans tonight during his fourth State of the State address, which airs on television and radio at 7 p.m.

Baldacci’s staff says the speech is still being revised, and is keeping mum on the its details, but the governor’s spokesman David Farmer told the Bangor Daily News that Baldacci will address the state’s $95 million revenue shortfall, his commitment to his school consolidation plan and his plan to turn control of county jails over to the state. Both the school and jail measures remain controversial.

The governor will deliver the State of the State address in the House of Representatives, less than one week after the Legislature convened its 2008 session.
