A popular waterfront amphitheater in Bangor has been nominated for large venue of the year by the Academy of Country Music.
Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, which has been in operation since 2010, attracted 100,000 visitors to Bangor in 2015 with legacy and contemporary music acts from country music and other genres.
Big name country acts, including Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts and Kenny Chesney, are all scheduled to perform at the venue this summer.
“We are very lucky that we are in this company [of nominees]. It is a testament to the fan base that we have here,” Waterfront Concerts LLC owner Alex Gray told The Bangor Daily News. “We are very lucky to have those fans. They make my job of booking concerts very easy.”
The recipients of the awards will be announced in Nashville this fall at the 10th Annual ACM Honor event.
