The standard electricity price for small businesses and institutions in Emera Maine’s Bangor Hydro Electric district will drop an average of 17% next year.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Maine Public Utilities Commission on Wednesday approved an average rate of about 6.7 cents per kilowatt-hour for its medium class of customers in the Bangor area.
Earlier this week the PUC accepted bids that will drop prices for Central Maine Power Co.’s medium-sized business customers by about 11% on average.
“We are encouraged that prices remain stable or slightly decreasing for retail and small business customers,” PUC Chairman Mark Vannoy said in a news release. “We are especially pleased to see medium business prices reduced significantly; a benefit from recent downward trends in energy markets that have been reflected in New England wholesale prices.”
