Bangor-based law firm Rudman Winchell said this week it will join forces with a smaller firm in the same city, effective Oct. 1.
The deal, which is being characterized as a merger, is with Gross, Minsky & Mogul, which for now has eight attorneys and eight support staffers.
Three of Gross, Minsky & Mogul’s attorneys and two staffers will retire, a spokesperson told Mainebiz. Remaining personnel will move to the Rudman Winchell offices and the leadership will have the role of senior counsel.
Founded in 1907, Rudman Winchell is headquartered at 84 Harlow St. in Bangor, with an additional office at 140 High St. in Ellsworth. It has 24 attorneys and 33 staffers and is ranked No. 8 among Maine's largest law firms, according to the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
Established in 1938, Gross, Minsky & Mogul is headquartered at 23 Water St., Suite 400, in Bangor.
The merger, terms of which were not disclosed, brings together established legal teams with complementary areas of practice, Rudman Winchell said.

Practice areas
The combination also creates greater synergy among practice areas, allowing attorneys to collaborate across disciplines and provide clients with more comprehensive support as their legal needs evolve. Clients of Gross, Minsky & Mogul will gain access to additional areas of legal experience while continuing to work with the attorneys and staff they know.
For Rudman Winchell, the merger will better position the firm to respond efficiently to increasingly complex client needs while maintaining a personal approach.
