Hollywood Casino in Bangor will begin around-the-clock hours for a 10-day period starting on Dec. 26 to see if the move could be viable in the long run.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the casino won’t close its gaming floor between Dec. 26 and Jan. 3 as part of the trial run. The casino normally opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 3 a.m. It has about 400 employees. Hollywood Casino’s only competitor, Oxford Casino, is already open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Staying open 24 hours a day would give people more opportunities to play the games on our gaming floor,” casino General Manager Jose Flores said in a prepared statement, “and it gives us a chance to test the feasibility of doing this in the future.”
