The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce has found a permanent headquarters near the city’s waterfront.
The Bangor Daily News reported the chamber has sought a new headquarters since 2011, when it moved from its downtown location to make way for the new Cross Insurance Center.
The chamber will now move from its temporary home in a city-owned building near the Bangor International Airport and, in doing so, will take on the costs of a new lease, which had been a negligible cost — $1 a year — at both of its previous locations.
CEO John Porter told the paper that the chamber is considering whether it will need to increase membership dues to cover that new expense. Any increase would not be more than 10%, he said. Current memberships range from $200 to $2,000.
The Bangor chamber has 835 members, Porter told the paper.
