A local real estate agent is helping to reopen a Bangor drive-in theater that closed in 1985 and was first opened by her father more than 64 years ago.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Carol Epstein and business partner Joe O’Donnell of Boston-based Belmont Capital are reopening the Bangor Drive-In on July 1 through Cinema Bangor LLC, which owns the Bangor Mall Cinema.
Epstein’s father, Sidney Epstein, opened the theater in 1950 and ran it until a national theater company stopped leasing the Outer Hammond Street lot in Hermon from Sidney in 1985.
