Bangor Hydro Electric Co. and the Maine Public Service Co. announced Monday the two companies will begin operating under the name of their shared corporate parent, doing business in the state as Emera Maine.
The Bangor Daily News reported the companies will officially merge on Jan. 1 and operate under the Emera Maine name.
The Halifax-based Emera acquired Bangor Hydro in 2002 and Maine Public Service in 2010, filing documents to merge the two entities earlier this year.
