The Bangor City Council on Monday will decide whether to increase the city’s minimum wage from $7.50 an hour to $8.25, with subsequent increases made in the next few years.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the proposal would increase the minimum wage to $8.25 an hour in 2016, to $9 in 2017 and then to $9.75 in 2018. The proposal would then call for adjusting the minimum wage on a yearly basis according to the Consumer Price Index.
The newspaper noted that city councilors will have to wade through a number of proposed amendments and clarifications before voting on the actual proposal.
