Bar Harbor Bankshares picks TD exec for top spot

Curtis Simard, a 42-year-old senior vice president and managing director of corporate banking at TD Bank, will begin as president and CEO of Bar Harbor Bankshares this August.

Starting June 17, Simard will become the president and CEO of the company’s subsidiary, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, according to a company announcement. Simard, who has been with TD Bank and its earlier incarnations since 2002, is expected to take the top spot at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s parent, Bar Harbor Bankshares, on Aug. 10.

Simard will succeed Joseph Murphy, who announced his retirement in November. The company organized a search committee at that time to find Murphy’s successor.
