Although the Bar Harbor Town Council voted in November to buy the former Cat ferry terminal for $3.5 million from the Maine Department of Transportation, it still hasn’t settled on what to do with the property.
The Mount Desert Islander reported that the council, as of its Dec. 19 meeting, had not decided on a business plan for the property.
Although it accepted a report from the town’s Ferry Terminal Property Advisory Committee, which recommends a multi-use marine facility with tender boat landings from cruise ships and a transportation hub, the council has not adopted the recommendation.
Ahead of the Dec. 19 meeting, Bermello and Ajamil, the town’s longtime consultants for ferry terminal-related projects, submitted a proposal to the town to develop a business plan for the property.
The four-phase, 14-week plan is to conduct market analysis, create concept designs, perform financial analysis and develop a final strategy.
