Amy Vendt has been appointed CEO of the Bath Area Family YMCA, after having served as the organization’s interim leader since last July.

Vendt stepped into the interim role following the departure of former CEO Rob Gray, who accepted a position leading the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Huntsville, Ala.
Peter Owen, president of the organization’s board, said Vendt has provided steady, mission-driven leadership during a period of transition and growth for the YMCA.
“Amy has demonstrated clarity of vision and a deep commitment to our mission. As we celebrate an important milestone year for our association, the board is confident in Amy’s ability to honor our legacy while guiding the Y forward.”
Vendt brings more than 30 years of experience within the YMCA. She served as chief operating officer of the Bath YMCA for two years, and previously served as executive director of the YMCA in Central Maryland, a branch serving more than 9,000 members.
This year marks the 170th anniversary of the Bath Area Family YMCA, one of the oldest YMCA associations in the country. The organization will mark the milestone with a community-wide celebration planned for June.
