Pizza By Alex in Biddeford was named Maine’s best pizza by USAToday’s college edition.
The restaurant specializes in Greek-style pizza in personal serving sizes. The restaurant, which has been owned by the Mantis family since 1960, “[satisfies] local customers and tourists with excellent pizza and a homey atmosphere,” USAToday reported.
According to its website, Pizza By Alex was founded on Feb. 18, 1960, by Alex Mantis and one employee. Within a few years, it outgrew its original location and has been at 93 Alfred St. ever since. Alex passed on the restaurant to his nephew, Andy Mantis.
