Bath Iron Works is sending recruiters to Verso Paper employees in Bucksport who are expected to lose their jobs later this year.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the recruiters will meet with about 200 of the Verso mill’s 500 workers on Thursday to discuss hundreds of job openings at Bath Iron Works, in part driven by continuing work on the shipyard’s Zumwalt destroyer.
Verso announced earlier this month that it will close its Bucksport mill and lay off about 500 workers by the end of the year.
