Thomaston-based Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Co. has expanded outside the country with a new boatyard in Panama. The 34-year-old company opened a yard in Shelter Bay, Panama, located near the Caribbean entrance of the Panama Canal.
The new yard will provide repair, haul-out and storage services for sailboats and power yachts, according to a press release. It will also offer transit canal transit prep work, and plans to construct a new building for service work. Lyman-Morse Service Manager Peach Frederick has relocated to Panama to run the yard. Company owner Cabot Morse decided to open a yard in Panama because of his appreciation for the area from decades of cruising in the region.
Lyman-Morse also has a service yard in Tenants Harbor.
