Approval of three bond measures totaling around $64.2 million — including a $51.5 million transportation improvement package — carried strong leads into Wednesday morning while a fourth bond proposal for $11.3 million in higher education capital improvements remains too close to call.
With 90% of Maine precincts reporting, two other bond measures maintain strong leads, according to the Bangor Daily News and the Portland Press Herald.
They are a $7.9 million bond for a revolving loan fund to support wastewater treatment systems and a $5 million borrowing proposal for the state to purchase land and conservation easements.
Maine voters approved issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples by a margin of 6% on the remaining referendum question as of late Wednesday morning.
