The Bootmobile, the iconic L.L.Bean boot-on-wheels that can be seen zooming around Maine’s interstate, will soon be hitting the streets of Clinton Township, Mich., as part of the outdoor retailer opening its first store in the Great Lakes state on Friday.
Ken Kacere, L.L.Bean’s senior vice president and general manager of retail, told Crain’s Detroit Business that the opening of the new location at The Mall at Partridge Creek will bring 90 new jobs to the Michigan community.
“We like to be more than just a store because we are all about getting people outdoors,” Kacere told Crain’s. “That’s why we [came] into a state with a store and a school.”
In addition to its flagship store in Freeport, L.L.Bean operates 27 retail locations outside of Maine and 10 outlet locations, according to its website.
