Julie Gondzar, director of development for Greater Portland Landmarks, told “Boulos Beat” host Greg Boulos, “preservation isn’t a fight against growth.”
In the podcast, Gondzar stressed how the two efforts can partner to enhance Portland’s iconic architectural character — a significant factor, she said, in the city’s appeal and economic vitality.
Gondzar told Boulos, who is a managing partner at the commercial real estate firm, that two preservation projects recently undertaken by private businesses, are standout examples of repurposing historic properties for modern use: Fathom Cos. ongoing redevelopment of 465 Congress St. into a future hotel and Woodull’s award-winning renovation of the Safford House at 93 High St. for company offices.
