Camden businesses target revitalization

Motivated by a growing number of empty downtown storefronts, Camden businesses yesterday began exploring ways to revitalize the town’s retail economy.

About 50 people at a meeting of the Camden Downtown Business Group held yesterday morning supported the creation of a committee with representatives from the CDBG, the Camden Area Futures Group, the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce and the Knox-Waldo Regional Economic Development Council, to discuss ways to revitalize Camden’s economic sector, according to the Camden Herald.

Support was also strong at the meeting for more collaboration between Camden’s chamber of commerce and the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce in Rockland, the paper said. Attempts to merge the two chambers in the past have failed.
