Caribou co. fined for employee death

Federal safety officials have fined a construction company in Caribou $4,000 for the death of an employee in December 2009.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Cyr Construction Co. for violating a federal regulation requiring a guardrail or harness be used when employees are working at heights, according to the Bangor Daily News. Last year, John Anderson of Woodland was working for the company inside the Presque Isle storage building when he fell from a second-story platform and was crushed by heavy equipment.
