Newmarket, N.H-based Chinburg Properties is developing a number of new housing communities in York County, including a 39 single-family-home neighborhood in West Kennebunk, Wildwood at Terrace Green.
There are eight home designs from which buyers can choose. Twelve houses have already been built and sold and 11 are under contract. Another 16 lots are still available.
The home designs range in size from 1,674 to 2,662 square feet and many have first floor primary suites. Built by Chinburg, and designed by Portsmouth, N.H.-based CJ Architects, the homes are energy-efficient with open-concept layouts, high-end finishes and attached two-car garages.
The development, at 342 Alfred Road, has trails alongside the adjacent Mousam River, and provides water access for kayaking and canoeing. Other amenities include dedicated green spaces and a community clubhouse.
Prices start in the low $800,000s.
Other Chinburg developments
Chinburg is concurrently developing a 13-lot subdivision in Wells — the Glen at Grand Trail — along with multiple properties in southern New Hampshire.
The company has also just finished an extensive renovation of the 70,000-square-foot former Jagger Brothers Mill in Sanford, and is now leasing the 86 apartments.
Studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments there range in size from 450 to 1,200 square feet and are priced at between $1,600 and $3,000 per month.
The company has redeveloped 20 historic mill properties in New Hampshire and Maine, including the Eleven and the Lincoln Lofts, both in Biddeford, and Saco Mill #4, in neighboring Saco.
Matt Assia, executive vice president of development and asset management for Chinburg told Mainebiz, "We’ve been building single-family homes here for many years, and we continue to see demand for both for-sale and rental housing.
"York County continues to be a desirable place to live, with coastal communities and convenient access to employment centers both north and south. As land and development opportunities become available, we look at how we can thoughtfully add different types of homes that serve people at different stages of life.”
