2026 Goals

Partnering with hospitals and community-based organizations, CBF envisions cancer nutrition services becoming a standard of care for everyone diagnosed with cancer.

In 2025, CBF’s primary goal is to sustain programming while launching the Nourishing Hope Trial, in collaboration with Yale University and Northern Light Health. This research will evaluate the impact of nutrition in cancer treatment and recovery in Maine and design evidence-based protocols for this care to be more accessible.

• Goal 1: Integrate nutrition services into treatment plans for 1,700 Mainers, including produce pick up within treatment centers, home-delivered medically-tailored grocery packages, and oncology dietitian-led counseling.

• Goal 2: Increase operational revenue to achieve financial stability and sustainability.

• Goal 3: Heighten public awareness of CBF programming.

Fundraising events/Opportunities

• Organize a (in-person or virtual) Healthy Food Drive, collecting food that adds nutritious value to each home-delivered, medically tailored grocery package provided across Maine.

• Sponsor CBF’s Community Event Series that highlights volunteers, heightens awareness of CBF services, and recognizes business sponsors aligned with our mission.

• Promote your product/service where proceeds will support Maine cancer patients.

Giving Opportunities

• Make a one-time or recurring gift to support CBF’s area of highest need. A custom leaf in memory or honor of someone impacted by cancer will flourish on our Tribute Tree (gifts of $400+).

• Contribute to groundbreaking research, backing the Nourishing Hope Trial – a first-of-its-kind study with CBF, Yale University, and Northern Light Health, evaluating the impact nutrition has on cancer outcomes in Maine. Join Hannaford Supermarket’s $120,000 gift to advance this research.

• Match your employees’ donation or volunteer time.

• Include CBF in your estate planning.

Your contribution can be mailed, made online, or via phone.

Volunteer Opportunities

Join a volunteer workforce of 150+ that keeps these cancer nutrition services available across Maine. Businesses, families, civic groups, and individuals can give their time and talents in ways that mean something to them.

Program volunteer roles are available in eastern and southern Maine, ranging from group service days, home-delivery drivers, hospital site representatives, and patient outreach coordinators.

Board and committee seats are available for those eager to lend their voice, skills, and leadership.
