Employees at contracting firm Cianbro Corp. will be able to receive academic credit for on-the-job training as a result of agreements signed with three colleges on Tuesday.
The Morning Sentinel reported that the Pittsfield-based firm has signed agreements with Kennebec Valley Community College, St. Joseph’s College in Standish and the University of Maine in Augusta.
Company officials told the Sentinel that the hope is for employees to acquire two-year, four-year and advanced business degrees without leaving the work force.
WCSH6 reported that employees will have to enroll in distance learning courses to take part in the program that will begin with the start of the upcoming fall semester.
