The White House will nominate Peter Cianchette to be the United State’s ambassador to the Republic of Costa Rica.
Cianchette, a former legislator and Republican nominee for governor, served as chief operating office for Pierce Atwood Consulting, according to the Portland Press Herald. He is the son of Ival “Bud” Cianchette, a founder of Cianbro Corp., in Pittsfield, and in 2004 managed the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign in Maine. He is now the Maine Republican Party’s national committeeman, according to the paper.
The nomination awaits confirmation from the Senate.
