After nearly 13 years in business, Biddeford-based Banded Brewing Co. is getting ready to close its doors next month. The last day of regular operations will be Thursday, Aug. 13.
“Unfortunately, the past several years have brought significant and sustained challenges to many independent brewers like us,” Banded said in a social media post. “Despite the continued support of our customers and community, we have reached a point where continuing operations is no longer sustainable.”
Founded by Ian McConnell in 2013, Banded Brewing has served beer and food, hosted events and supported local organizations. The brewery closed its Portland tasting room in 2023 to focus on its Biddeford taproom, located at 32 Main St.
The brewer is ranked as Maine’s 11th largest brewer in the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists, sandwiched between Freeport-based Mast Landing Brewing Co. (No. 10) and Portland-based Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. (No. 12). Brewers were ranked by 2024 production in barrels.
