Organizers of the 49th annual Yarmouth Clam Festival said the event had one of its best years of attendance, attributing the large turnout to last weekend’s sunny weather.
Carolyn Schuster, executive director of the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce told The Forecaster that this year’s festival attracted an estimated 130,000 to 150,000 people — exceeding the festival’s expectation of 100,000.
Besides the weekend’s sunny weather, Ben McNaboe, the festival’s assistant director, told the newspaper that the event’s clams were the biggest draw, saying that while final numbers have yet to be tallied, overall sales are looking good.
