A new, $33 million transmission line under construction in Somerset County will boost reliability in the area, according to Central Maine Power Co.
CMP has begun construction on the 39-mile line from Moscow to Benton, with completion expected in the spring, The Associated Press reported. The line is also expected help accommodate more wind-generated electricity. It’s being built parallel to an existing line.
The cost of the project will be shared among ratepayers in New England, with CMP customers footing about 7%.
