The union representing around 600 workers at Central Maine Power Co. has rejected a three-year contract extension.
The Associated Press reported that Dick Rogers, business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1837, said that many workers didn’t like the contract’s proposed health insurance changes and felt that their wages were not competitive compared to other regional utilities.
The AP reported that negotiators for the company and union plan to begin discussions on a successor agreement to the contract that runs through the end of next month.
