A legislative committee has approved a change to the way businesses bid on state contracts to make it easier on contractors.
The State and Local Government Committee unanimously accepted a report that enables contractors to prequalify for contracts issued by the state Bureau of General Services, according to The Associated Press. It’s similar to a system already in place for the Department of Transportation, which allows prequalification for three years.
Stacey Morrison of Augusta-based Ganneston Construction said the change will streamline the bidding process.
